Clareese Hill

Between the Alien and Becoming is Time

< < CLICK HERE TO ENTER PORTAL > >

Clareese Hill is an Afro-Caribbean American artist-researcher whose work considers the entangled complexities of time, space, and identity by seeking to disrupt their congruent importance in the Western landscape. Between the Alien and Becoming is Time interprets gestures that she performs to be legible and verified as legitimate in her performances through the medium of a Web VR meditation. The piece is composed of 4 portals for making inquiries into laying the gestures to rest at the beach. The walk-through is driven by a version of her alien body, which is her Emoji Avatar. This piece is in response to the Otolith Group's pieces Sovereign Sister 2014 and Third Part of the Third Measure, 2017.
